A virus as new years gift

MX Lab expected more image based spam masked as Christmas greetings but we noticed a slight decrease of blocked spam during the last 3 days of 2006 in our global statistics.
We noticed however a major increase of the virus Trojan.Downloader, with the postcard.exe attachment and the subject “Happy New Year!”, during these days. For some domains we blocked more than 150 virus emails per day. At around 11 PM CET, the increased virus blocks dropped to normal levels. Currently, MX Lab blocks around 0.13% virus emails on a daily base.
